Ros Jackson, Labour candidate for Louth South has been preparing for the budget-setting meeting of East Lindsey District Council. Some lines on renewables caught her eye: the figures for business rates, and especially for the rates the council gets for renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A few years ago these figures barely registered; now, we are set to get \u00a35.4 million next year. And those figures are likely to rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The figures of \u00a35.5m for 2026\/27, and \u00a35.6m the year after that, account for inflation, but not for any extra from renewables that haven’t yet been built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For comparison, the council will raise about \u00a38.2 million for its share of council tax next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This money will go to support the council budget in future, so it can provide the services you need.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
