Ros Jackson, Labour’s candidate for Louth South, has steered an important amendment through East Lindsey Council. At its full council on 5th March, members adopted Labour’s budget proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Help for those in Financial Difficulty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u00a3250,000 extra will go to help those in financial difficulties, via an extension to the Household Support Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Labour government already gave \u00a3445,000 to East Lindsey for this, ” commented Ros, “but we felt it was important to extend it further to lessen the cost of living pressures we have inherited from the Tories. This fund is open now for people to apply to.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More for Affordable Housing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Council adopted the Labour proposal to put \u00a3300,000 towards supporting affordable housing. This will help build homes of the kind that families need. Ros Jackson commented, “The Birch Road estate being built in Louth wouldn’t have been possible without similar council help. Everyone deserves a safe, decent home.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solar Panels in Car Parks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Council agreed to Labour’s proposal on car park solar panels. Ros Jackson said, “Car park solar panels, which will soon pay for the cost of their construction, will help us get to Net Zero whilst providing home grown energy in an urban area.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of this will be paid for through a reserve which is funded by business rates from renewable energy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
