Ros Jackson looks at Affordable Housing in Louth

Ros Jackson, Labour’s candidate for Louth South, has been doing some analysis of affordable housing in the area.

Last Wednesday the Labour Group secured an extra £300,000 for affordable housing at East Lindsey District Council. What does this mean for families who need housing?

In Louth, Acis housing are building 47 homes with the help of £198,539 from the district council. The extra funding helps building go ahead on extra one bedroomed homes. The extra money has meant that these homes are getting built ready to move into this year. These are all affordable, with 30 for rent and 17 for shared ownership.

“So whilst £300,000 may not seem a lot when it comes to housing, it can make the difference when it comes to building new estates”, says Ros Jackson.

“Often, house building is delayed when housing providers are unsure whether or not they can afford to build what they want to without losing money, especially when it comes to affordable homes, so the council can make a little money go a long way.”
