Jonathan Slater Selected as Parliamentary Candidate

Jonathan Slater has been selected as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Louth and Horncastle.

Jonathan is a policy and engagement professional with over twenty years’ experience of working for national, international, regional, and local organisations. For the last 3 years he has worked as the national Strategic Engagement Manager for Maximus UK, where he is responsible for a national partnership with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, in supporting people into sustainable work.

A lifelong Hull City fan and a member of the Labour Party for nearly 30 years, Jonathan also has experience of working for the community as a local councillor, supporting residents with their housing needs, particularly through the pandemic and following cost of living crisis.

Speaking after his selection, Jonathan Slater said:

I’m very excited to have been selected as the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Louth and Horncastle.

As someone who lives in a rural village I fully appreciate the challenges that many of my constituents have in the need to be able to access high-quality employment opportunities which I will campaign for – fighting for more affordable housing which is right for the constituency with the right community infrastructure, and finally lobbying for better national and local transport links and infrastructure to ensure all local constituents have the ability to travel to their place of work, as well as visit and support our local high streets.

Finally I want to highlight how our NHS been let down over the last 14 years, typified by the current MP and Secretary of State for Health, where I will highlight Labour’s plans to cut the waiting lists, ensuring more in person GP appointments, and greater access to more NHS registered dentists.
